Bobby Joe Douglas Day Celebration
The Town of Marion in collaboration with Operation Outreach will host its first Bobby Joe Douglas Day celebration during the weekend of March 7-9m 2025. The celebration is in recognition of the 45th anniversary of Bobby Joe setting a single high school basketball scoring record that still stands in the nation today with an average scoring of 54 points per game.
Marion Mayor Danny Smith, who is issuing an official proclamation for the weekend, calls the celebration well deserved. While honoring Bobby Joe for his accomplishments, other outstanding Marion players from over the years will be highlighted.
All funds generated from this celebration will be returned to the community via activities for the youth of our community. The activities will begin with a banquet on Friday night and a free youth camp on Saturday conducted by Douglas.
Our mission is to make a lasting impact on the lives of our youth via scholarships and various other activities to enhance the quality of their lives. Your support will help us to continue to empower our youth and inspire them to make better choices.
